Join us this summer for free walking tours with our costumed, theatrical players. Enjoy The Shipyards and learn about its place in World War II history as a major shipbuilding yard. Stories, songs and learning all rolled into one!

Discover the Coast Salish traditions of using native plants as medicine and food in this Connections Speaker Series event with author and ethnobotanist Leigh Joseph, Styawatan, Squamish Nation member and mother of two. Her first book, Held by the Land: A Guide to Indigenous Plants for Wellness, is part narrative, part field guide and recipe book that draws on her lived experience as an Indigenous woman, her training in Western Science, and her cultural journey toward identity.

Join us at the Museum of North Vancouver (115 West Esplanade) on September 28th for a special gardening themed Nerd Nite. Tickets include admission to the Museum’s Permanent and Feature Galleries, along with some entertainingly nerdy presentations.
Presentations run from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. The night includes 3 unique speakers, a short intermission, as well as a chance to win some trivia prizes.
Come early, between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm to grab a drink, socialize, and visit the museum’s galleries.

Join us all day at MONOVA to engage and learn through hands-on activities designed to inspire reflection and meaningful dialogue for guests of all ages. The day includes: a gallery scavenger hunt highlighting Coast Salish history and culture; Painting Rocks for Reconciliation (from 2pm – 4pm); beading orange shirts; a selection of games to support learning about the impacts of policies such as the Indian Act on Indigenous peoples, Indigenous rights, and Reconciliation in Canada; the Second Annual Community Voices for Reconciliation activity and display; the showing of films and images about Reconciliation and Coast Salish history on the North Shore; a reading nook with literature about Coast Salish history and reconciliation; bannock and tea; colouring activities, and more.

Voices of Diversity: North Vancouver’s Newcomers tells the stories of seven newcomers to North Vancouver through photography and video.
The exhibit explores themes such as belonging, food culture, sense of place, public art, photography, youth culture, and architecture from a newcomer’s perspective.

The New Voices Volunteer Program is generously supported by the Kitty Heller Memorial Fund, held at Vancouver Foundation, Deux Mille Foundation and Lohn Foundation.
This 20 minute one-person show, Riding with Change, is ideal for groups of youth and adults who would enjoy a theatrical program.
Through this exciting and thoughtful show, explore MONOVA’s centrepiece installation, Streetcar #153. Hear from the riders, and learn about the pivotal role the streetcar played on the North Shore.
After the play, the actor-interpreter will engage in post-show dialogue and share some archival images. Duration: 30 mins (20 min performance with a 10 min post-show dialogue).
