Count Plunkett, Dr. Valera, Countess Markievicz, Madam Gonne, Dillon, Arthur Griffith.<\/p>\n<p><em>*<\/em><em>The &#8220;German Plot&#8221; was a <\/em><em>conspiracy<\/em><em> alleged in May 1918 by the <\/em><em>Dublin Castle administration in Ireland<\/em><em> to exist between <\/em><em>the Sinn F\u00e9in movement<\/em><em> and the <\/em><em>German Empire<\/em><em> to start an armed insurrection in <\/em><em>Ireland<\/em><em> during <\/em><em>World War I<\/em><em>. The alleged conspiracy, which would have diverted <\/em><em>the British war effort<\/em><em>, was used to justify the <\/em><em>internment<\/em><em> of Sinn F\u00e9in leaders, who were actively opposing <\/em><em>attempts to introduce conscription in Ireland<\/em><em>. There is no evidence that the 1918 plot had any basis in fact.
