A Church in the Mountains

Video Transcript

Background Description: At the top of the screen is the title, “A Church in the Mountains.” Martin Kafer, a mountaineer, sits on a rock, legs crossed, hands over his knees with dark sunglasses on. In the back drop are the mountains Garibaldi and the Table, the latter of which is known for its flat top.

Kafer speaks: For me, the mountains are the only church and standing on a mountain is as good as for another person who is doing a prayer; that’s the equivalent. In my mind, God is in the nature and being close to nature and on the mountain is the same as having a religion. For many people, that’s not the case, but if you want to equate the mountains with the church, I am quite in agreement; it can be done. For me, that’s the way it works.
