Spectre of the Brocken
When young, Arnold Shives would climb with his father to summit cairns and savour views of the Fraser River delta engulfed by the slow surge of ocean fog. Years later, after a climb up the west Lion’s rocky mane, he witnessed an arresting phenomenon associated with fog and mist. The sun briefly cast a shadow of climber and summit over the misty valley, creating a prismatic halo known as the ´Spectre of the Brocken.´ Artwork details
