Climbing Flannels and Fedora
In the 1920s mountaineers sought clothing that suited their pursuit –specialized clothing was not available in Vancouver at the time. The figure wears a practical flannel shirt, yet the tie and fedora hat convey some air of formality. The rugged surplus army breeches and boots were readily adopted by climbers – they stood up to arduous conditions. The wool cardigan and breeches provided freedom of movement yet held in warmth, even when damp.
