The Pot Didn’t Fit
This climber of the 1930s took some time to assemble his load. He secured a smaller bag atop his main canvas pack with leather straps. He slung his ice axe horizontally beneath his hemp rope, then strapped and tied his crampons to the top of his load. The pot didn’t fit in the bags; it was secured beside the crampons.
