Varley's Valley
When Frederick Varley moved to Lynn Valley in North Vancouver in the 1920s, he found inspiration at his doorstep. He was a keen hiker, and his rambles brought him to views of terrain, mountains and vegetation to sketch. His most powerful paintings seek to address the landscape in a direct fashion. A founding member of the “Group of Seven” Canadian artists, he is honoured by a nature trail in the Upper Lynn Valley named in 1998 – the Varley Commemorative Walk. Artwork details
