Climbing Meets Collecting
The annual mountaineering camps gained a new dimension after botanist John Davidson, extreme left, joined the expeditions in 1912. Climbers not only enjoyed scaling peaks and camping in alpine splendor but they also were pleased to assist in the development of scientific knowledge. Davidson appreciated the climbers. In addition to helping with his field work, he also depended on their practical knowledge to travel safely in the back country.
