With Gun, Knife or Axe
By 1909, the Red Shack on Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain was the base camp for mountaineers. Relatively warm and dry, as well as a source of snacks, local mice found it a comfortable abode too. In response, Fred Perry honed his considerable skills as a mouser. Here he poses with some of his unlucky victims – though it is unclear whether he dispatched them with gun, knife or axe.
