Sun Drying Felt

Having travelled to higher altitudes to collect plants for preservation in a herbarium, botanist John Davidson followed strict procedures. Many botanists used only paper to dry and preserve specimens in their plant presses, but Davidson accelerated the process by using pieces of felt. The photograph shows felt sheets drying on the side of his tent in 1912 near Mount Garibaldi.
