In July of last year, MONOVA: Museum & Archives of North Vancouver joyfully embraced the addition of Rebecca Pasch to our team as a valued archivist. Bringing with her a wealth of experience as a municipal archivist and a seasoned photographer, Rebecca transitioned to our organization after dedicating fifteen years to the City of Burnaby.
During her tenure at the City of Burnaby, Rebecca demonstrated her expertise through strategic planning, goal setting for the City Archives division, and effective collaboration with a diverse range of internal and external partners. Her responsibilities also included formulating both long and short-term goals, as well as diligently monitoring and reporting on progress.
MONOVA Director Zoe Mackoff de Miranda expresses her enthusiasm about Rebecca’s contribution, stating, “With a background as a professional photographer and over 15 years of experience in municipal archives, Rebecca has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Archives of North Vancouver.” Zoe emphasizes the importance of the ongoing work to preserve the diverse histories of North Vancouver and ensure that the Archives remain accessible and welcoming to all.
Having grown up in North Vancouver and holding an honours degree in photography from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Rebecca’s journey into archival work has been both unique and enriching. Prior to joining MONOVA, she worked as a photography teacher and operated her own architectural photography business, with her work even appearing in prestigious publications like TIME Asia and Ripe magazines.
Reflecting on her connection to MONOVA, Rebecca articulates, “It was a natural progression for me to go from photographing buildings to photographing museum objects. I see myself in a natural progression again, going from working for a municipal archives to working for MONOVA, my hometown Museum and Archives, where my own personal memories can be reflected in the photographs and records on display. From the photograph of the Seabus when it used to be orange, to the photograph of my favourite neighbour as a child.” Her personal ties to North Vancouver and its rich history make her an ideal addition to our team. Rebecca’s dedication aligns seamlessly with MONOVA’s mission to foster a sense of belonging for all residents, allowing them to see a part of themselves reflected in the records we preserve. As she aptly puts it, “I share in MONOVA’s goal to have all who call North Vancouver home feel a sense of belonging and see a part of themselves reflected in the records we keep.”
Let’s extend a warm welcome to Rebecca Pasch as she continues to contribute her unique perspective and passion to the MONOVA team, ensuring that the memories and histories of North Vancouver are thoughtfully preserved and shared.
