Rudy Reimer
Rudy Reimer combines two favourite pursuits while researching in the high country. He enjoys mountaineering, and at the same time hunts for old sites described by his Squamish Nation elders. People today consider alpine meadows places of serenity and great locations to bivouac – few appreciate they have been campsites for thousands of years. In times past, Squamish ancestors combed the peaks for special resources like obsidian – volcanic glass to fashion into the sharpest tool blades. Rudy finds and documents the remains of ancient activities and records them as archaeological sites. Archaeological sites are protected by provincial legislation.
