Wednesday 26 December 1917
Bank Holiday. I rise at 5.30 am to catch 7.50 train to Stafford. Arr. 9.30 am – found Mrs. Leighton & family home. Stayed two days then left for Camp.
Tuesday 25 December 1917 – Christmas Day
Rose @ 8.30 am. Breakfast @ 9 am. Very quiet till noon.
I go for a bike ride to West Derby & Tuebrook. Dinner @ 2 pm. Beef & vegetables. No plum pudding. In evening to S.A. Upton’s. Played Priest of Parish. Jack N is home. Party number 10….made after dinner speeches. Have splendid time. Back to Harry’s accompanied by Jack & Samuel. After more games we retire @ 1.30 am.
*Priest of Parish is a parlour game for groups of people.
Monday 24 December 1917
Up early & catch 8.30 train @ Leic. Sta. for Rhyl to see Harry. Arr. @ 12 noon. Have 1 hrs chat with him. He looks very ill & is fed on peptonised milk. Trouble Gastritis. Leave him @ 1.15 pm. Catch Camp Railway train for Rhyl @ 1.30 pm. Take 2.54 train to L’pool. Arr. 6 pm. Trains packed. Had to walk home. Played Priest of Parish @ Harry’s retired to bed @ 2 am.

Sunday 23 December 1917
Arr. (23rd) Liverpool @ 6 am Sunday. Stayed at Harry’s till 5 pm then to S. A. Upton’s & had chat.

Leave Smiths Lawn for Liverpool @ 7.20 pm. Saturday via Waterloo Euston Sta.

Charles & I tour Leicester. I leave for Camp & Charles for L’pool & Rhyl to see Harry. Charles puts £60 in war bonds @ Leicester Post Office 15.12.17.
Friday 14 December 1917
To Syston on 14th @ 8.34.
Called on Mrs. Lee @ Syston. Inspected Register @ Lyston Church. To Leicester @ 5.40 pm. Stayed with brother Charles & Aunt.
Thursday 13 December 1917
Leave Camp at 5.30 for Leicester, leave Egham 6.34 pm, leave St. Pancras 8.30 pm. Arr. Leiscter 11.15 pm. Stayed @ YMCA.
