Rien a faire.

Received letter from Erlysman Pinckney Esq. of Highbury, Warminister, Wilts (shire)

I have the prevailing Spanish Influenza.

*World War I claimed an estimated 16 million lives. The influenza epidemic that swept the world in 1918 killed an estimated 50 million people. One fifth of the world’s population was attacked by this deadly virus. Within months, it had killed more people than any other illness in recorded history. The leaders of the Sinn Feiners are arrested. Count Plunkett, Dr. Valera, Countess Markievicz, Madam Gonne, Dillon, Arthur Griffith.

*The “German Plot” was a conspiracy alleged in May 1918 by the Dublin Castle administration in Ireland to exist between the Sinn Féin movement and the German Empire to start an armed insurrection in Ireland during World War I. The alleged conspiracy, which would have diverted the British war effort, was used to justify the internment of Sinn Féin leaders, who were actively opposing attempts to introduce conscription in Ireland. There is no evidence that the 1918 plot had any basis in fact. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Plot_(Ireland))
