I leave on 7:35 train for Liverpool and arrive at 12:15. Met at Station by Charles my brother who came over from Derby. I receive £5 from Rifle Paymaster at Salisbury. Arrive home at 1 pm. Harry gets home at 5 pm and glad to see me. So are all friends. I take Charles to see Craigs, [Shaws] and Hollinghursts.

Sunday 7 February 1915
To Church of England in morning in Khaki and afternoon and evening to Primitive Methodist Chapel with girls and Mr Inglesant. The latter preached at both services and very earnest too.
Maud and Lily sit up and chat with me till 12:30 midnight.
* The Primitive Methodists (Draycott often calls them the P.M.’s) were an offshoot of Wesleyan Methodism in Britain in the 19th Century. They focused attention on the role of lay people, and on simplicity of worship. The two streams of Methodism re-merged in the 1930’s.
Saturday 6 February 1915
I go into Leicester at 4 pm and after calling at Aunts, return to Seagrave at 8:30 pm. Cyril still ill.
Friday 5 February 1915
Breezes blow but all’s well in the end. Cyril is sick. I go to Leicester in afternoon. Call at Aunts, back to Seagrave at 8:30 pm. Met Mr Looms and Hilda.
Thursday 4 February 1915
Up at 8:30 am. I make morning visits and after lunch go with Fred to visit Uncle George of Barkley (The Elms). Met young Harry there. George has 3 acres and a fine large house all his own and paid for. Fred makes his machine do 45 miles an hour on return journey. Have tea at Aunt’s and leave for Seagrave at 6 pm. Call at Sileby and walk to Seagrave with the girls. I find them very upset. Jealousy of Humberstone Family is the cause. Have long talk with Maud till 1 am (attend Mrs Draycot funeral in Khaki
Wednesday 3 February 1915
In morning visiting – Melvin’s, Green’s, called at No. 6 Walton St (Ernest Draycot), John and wife also Almena of 9 Devana Road in afternoon. I go with Cousin Fred on motorcycle and side car to Seagrave and Rothley. Had ripping time. Introduced Fred to Draycots of Rothley where mother died recently. Back home at 5 pm and to theatre at 7:30 pm with Aunt Louise, Henry, Fred and Miss –
Tuesday 2 February 1915
Up at 8:30 am and had breakfast with Edith walked in to Sileby and just caught 11 am train for Leicester. Arrive at Draycot’s shop and to lunch at 1 pm with Aunt and Nancy. Chatted after dinner till 3:30 pm then back to shop with Nancy. To Old Humberstone and visit the Draycots there.
Great reception and had tea with them. Left at 5:30 pm for Draycot’s.
Monday 1 February 1915
Left Wylde Green at 9:15 am, at Nuneaton 11 am and arrive at Mr. Wagstaffe’s at 11.30. Went for walk with Mr. Wagstaffe visited Old Church and other places. Returned home and had dinner with the family. Left at 3:40 for Leicester on Midland Road. Arrive at Leicester at 4:45. Called on Mrs Draycot (Aunt) stayed 15 minutes and off to Sileby by the 5:40 train. Met the girls at [Yatin and Son] and then on to Loom’s and had refreshments. Girls called at 7 pm and we walk into Seagrave. Great reception at home. Long talks till past midnight then to bed. Mrs Draycot of Humberstone died on 30th Jan 1915.
