Pinnacle Pose
Mountaineers say the thrill of standing on a peak is indescribable. You’ve struggled upward through bush, trees and rocks, overcome obstacles and faced dangers - and finally step onto the pinnacle. Spread before you is a spectacular view of peaks near and far, covered with snow, gleaming in the sunlight. Some of the thrill of getting to the top is captured in this 1921 image of a climber posed on a craggy outcrop.
