Snowboating

Vancouver began its love affair with skiing and winter sports in the 1920s. Skiers had their choice of several establishments on the north shore mountains. In 1927, the road to the Grouse Mountain Chalet opened, providing easy access for skiers, snowshoers and those wishing to toboggan. Shown in this photo is the “snowboat” with toboggans hitched behind, being hauled to the top of the hill.
